The Out of the Darkness Overnight Crew

Working as a member of The Overnight Crew is an experience unlike any other. The Crew is a team of several hundred people working together to literally make the event happen.

Each Crew member registers as an Overnight participant and is present for the entire event - and often, before it starts and after it ends. The registration fee is $50 (or $35 for full-time students). Some work behind the scenes and some are in the forefront, but each member of the crew receives enormous gratitude from the walkers, for whom the Crew provides just about any kind of support.

One Of Our Overnight Crew MembersWhat you do on the Crew depends on your skills and your interests. We need all kinds of help - strong people to work the Rest Stops and Quick Stops; safe drivers to monitor walker safety on the route; motorcyclists to assist walkers at busy intersections; individuals with great attention to detail to mark the route; as well as medical professionals (Doctors, Nurse, EMTs, Physical Therapists, Podiatrists) and much, much more. If you want to help and are willing to give your all, we've got a job for you!

To be fully prepared for your Crew assignment come event day, you'll have the opportunity to participate in an introductory meeting and a Crew Training Day before the event. In the months leading up to the event, you'll have access to comprehensive information and materials on our website, and personal attention from our staff Crew Coordinator, or one of our volunteer Crew Team Leaders. Registered Crew members will have the chance to pick their top four team choices, and we'll do our best to assign you to the crew team you would like to join.

Crew members are not required to fundraise, but we highly encourage and help them to do so. As a member of The Overnight Crew, you'll have access to the same extensive network of fundraising support and tools used by the Walkers.

Crew members must be at least 18 years old on or before the start date of their event.
