Training Walks

Our volunteer-led training walks are scheduled throughout the season in locations all across the country. Walkers of all fitness levels are welcome, and they are a great way for walkers to get in shape and meet new friends.

We’ll help you reach out to your fellow Overnight walkers, and you can invite friends, family, and donors to come out and walk with you. The Overnight is not just one night – the sooner you start to build the community, the better experience you will have.

The Boston Overnight Warmup. PLEASE RSVP HERE
You’re invited (your friends and family too) to join us for our Overnight Warmup. This 5 mile training walk will give you an opportunity to get in some training miles in preparation for the Boston Overnight Walk on June 27. The Warmup will begin and end REI - 401 Park Dr, Boston, MA 02215.

Starting Location: Park Street Station, Boston Common (entrance closest to Park Street Church), MA 02108
Distance: 6-7 miles
Pace:  2-3mph

Walk Notes: An out and back from the Boston Common to and around the Esplanade, crossing to the Cambridge side and back. Between 6-7 miles. We will meet between the two entrances of Park Street Station closest to Park Street Church. When looking at a map, this is found on the northeastern tip of the Boston Common. We will walk at a gradual pace, between 2.5 and 3 mph. Be sure to bring water and a snack, though the fountains along the esplanade should be operational. This walk is designed for those who have access to the T, as parking downtown is limited. There is a garage on Washington Street by Walgreens - about a 5 minute walk away. Walk Notes: We will begin at CVS, take a short walk on a paved trail through the woods and then heads towards the walking trail that goes along 123 (Ox Road). We're going to stop for lunch at the Occoquan water front and then walk back. There is a shopping center a couple of miles away from our halfway point where we can stop for a break and to get any water, etc we might need. Total walk distance is about 12 miles (some hills).
