Training Walk Leader: April Lofgren
Contact Information: missaprillofgren@gmail.com
Training Walk Date: Saturday May 7
Start Time: 1pm
Starting Location: Meet at the Murphy Windmill along Martin King Luther, JR. Drive, San Francisco, CA 94121. See map for exact location: https://goo.gl/maps/Zw6tvtDYuzz
Level: Some hills
Pace:  2-3 MPH, 3-4 MPH
Distance: 13 miles
Notes:  This route takes you through the entirety of Golden Gate Park on safe, mostly car free walking paths. With bathrooms along the route and multiple opportunities for snacks and beautiful resting places, Golden Gate Park is the perfect place for training walks. As we get closer to our event date, the miles will increase and we will likely explore more side paths of the park and potentially pass by places twice.   Please meet at the Southern Windmill of the park. There should be parking along John F. Kennedy Drive as it is not one of the busy regions of the park. If not, parking across the street on the Great Highway would also work. Bring food, water, proper sun protection and comfortable clothing and shoes. You also may want to consider carrying a backpack or whatever you'll be wearing during the actual walk itself. It can be heavy at first to walk for many miles carrying a backpack but the body adapts quickly! You'll see. Please be on time or communicate with your training walk leader to arrange somewhere to meet along the route if you are late. Please confirm at least two days in advance that you will be there.
