No matter where we are, we walk together.

The Overnight Virtual Experience

The safety and health of our community is our top priority. Therefore, with your well-being in mind, we have decided to host The Overnight Virtual Experience this June to continue to honor loved ones we've lost to suicide and to support those who are struggling. We will stay connected during this time and lift each other up, just as we would have done in person.

The Overnight Virtual Experience will be composed of four main pieces, much like last year's first Virtual Overnight Experience:

  1. Physical: Action.
One of the top most important parts of The Overnight for our participants is walking 16+ miles or taking action for our important cause. We are working on some exciting ways to train and complete activities for the 2021 Overnight Virtual Experience. Stay tuned for more information.

  2. Social Engagement: Connection.
We know not everyone uses social media, but in this time of physical distancing, social media is a way for our community to come together to support one another. We will host opportunities to connect with one another and share our Overnight experiences on social media and Zoom for registered participants throughout the season.

  3. Fundraising Milestones: Impact.
There is no fundraising minimum requirement this year for The Overnight Virtual Experience. However, we encourage you to fundraise so AFSP can continue life-saving work and provide programs for suicide prevention. Your fundraising will impact the course of suicide prevention for years to come. We will be there to encourage you and offer fundraising rewards as you cross different milestones.

  4. Event Program: June 26, 2021
The Overnight is important to us all, so we want to make sure you have the best experience possible during The Overnight Virtual Experience. The event weekend is an important time to honor loved ones and ourselves, connect with our community, and experience hope and healing.

Why We Participate

The Overnight Virtual Experience is an event like no other.

As you virtually participate, you'll feel safe and cared-for in a community where everyone supports each other. It's a place to laugh, to cry, and to heal - to honor the past and embrace a future that your work will change for the better.

Suicide prevention does not get anywhere near the funding given to other leading causes of death. It's up to supporters like us to make a difference. Together we can change the conversation about mental health and put a stop to this tragic loss of life.

We invite you to browse Our Brave Space and COVID-19 resources we put together for you. You can also read our Frequently Asked Questions and AFSP's response to COVID-19.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

We are the leader in the fight against suicide. We fund research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. Led by CEO Robert Gebbia and headquartered in New York, AFSP has local chapters in all 50 states and events nationwide.

Thanks to supporters like you, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
